There’s tears in his eyes,
that roll down his cheek,
landing on the floor,
next to my feet.
I’ve tried to take his pain,
to stop this unknown hurt.
Tried everything of fatherhood,
that up until now I’ve learnt.
But I can’t hold him no tighter,
I can’t stop his grief.
Have I failed him,
far beyond my own belief.
My smile has lost its magic,
without seeing his in unison.
I feel so useless,
being a father to him,
my precious son.
Even my words love and devotion,
seem to make no sound at all.
There’s tears in his eyes and I can’t halt their fall.
