On this Father’s Day, I want you to know one thing…I forgive you.
It’s been many years since we’ve spoken.
And it may be many years more before we speak again.
You don’t know me.
And I don’t know you.
We probably never did.
So, on this Father’s Day, I want you to know me.
I’m a lucky father of three beautiful children.
It’s just me and them.
My oldest son, Grayson, just turned 6.
My middle son, Hayden, just turned 4.
My daughter, Isabella, just turned 2.
I consider myself the luckiest man on earth, because I share my life with them, and have the opportunity to guide them.
Now, my life is defined as being a father.
I struggle though.
You never talked to me.
And you never taught me how to be a man.
Most of the things I know were learned from movies and YouTube.
You never gave me direction on how to live a life of meaning and to instill that into my own kids.
But you did give me the motivation to set a different example for my children.
That motivation is something that fuels me daily.
I want my children to see me giving.
I want my children to see me loving.
I want my children to see me being present.
In short, I want to show my children that love is unconditional and knows no limits when you approach every situation with love.
Dad, I know this was short, but if you ever read this, no matter the hurt of the past, my love is unconditional and I forgive you.
And perhaps one day, I will see you again.
Your son, Alex
