I know you’re not even two years old yet. And I know you don’t understand, but there’s a reason I made you pick up the Duplos you threw out of frustration when they were not sticking correctly. You have to try one more time.
Life’s tough buddy.
I’ll be the first to tell you that you won’t have some of the same financial or educational advantages as your cousins or classmates/peers. Don’t get me wrong; you/we have a lot. However, we, mom and dad, just don’t have enough to provide you every opportunity.
And that’s ok.
Because one day you’re going to find yourself competing against some of these more privileged people – at what, I don’t know – but you’ll try your hardest. You’ll put your everything into whatever it is you’re doing, and guess what? You’ll fail. Other times, and yes, there will be other times, you may get hurt. Bad things may happen to you. Bad things happen to us. Regardless, you will feel lost, alone, and defeated.
And again, that’s ok. Because that’s when the magic starts.
That’s when all those times you picked up those Duplos will come back to you and help guide you through, what I’m terming, the ‘difficult.’ I know it sounds, or seems, overtly simple, but what I’m doing, or what I hope I’m doing, is instilling in you the notion that ‘one more time’ can trump whatever it is you’re facing. Whatever disadvantages you have, whatever it is you’ve inherited, whatever the situation you find yourself in, you can ‘one more time’ your way through it.
And if not…
Well, try one more time.
